Stichting Economie en Cultuur

Stichting economie en cultuur (SEC) is intented to promote research on the interaction between culture and economy, and to distribute knowledge thereof. SEC organizes workshops, lectures and undertakes a variety of research projects. Most recent was the Value of Crafts symposium in March 2018.

In the past it has done research on the financing of the arts for the European parliament, around the year 2000. Authors of this project were: Anne Mignosa, Lyudmila Petrova and Arjo Klamer. It has conducted a quality impact study in turin on a variety of social projects for the foundation Caritas. It currently does an evaluation project on job development in turin. It is starting an evaluation project in Malta.

The foundation is a non profit organization. SEC has also published the first version of ‘doing the right thing, a value based approach’.

Cees Langeveld – endowed professor in The Economics of Performing Arts at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Arjo Klamer – professor of cultural economy at the Erasmus University Rotterdam

Activities of SEC

  • May 2018, Arjo gave a special lecture on Value Based Approach to the urban regeneration of South Korea.
    The Institute of Public Collaboration invited him in collaboration with Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation). He was also specially invited for a VIP visit to the Lotte tower.
  • November 2017, Visit to South Korea by Arjo to promote the Korean translation of ‘Doing the Right Thing’ and give several presentations.
  • 2017- present, Monitoring qualities of cultural institutions for the government of Malta

  • 2013- 2016, Project for caritas in Turin: Applying the quality impact monitor to different social projects. With Lyudmila Petrova
