Nederland was een land van uitmuntende ambachtslieden, maar de waardering voor vakmanschap is nu laag. In andere landen staan ambachten wel hoog aangeschreven. Een herwaardering komt zowel de vakman, de economie als de samenleving ten goede.

Goede vakmensen in buitenland vaak hoger aanzien

Creatief vakmanschap speelt een belangrijke rol in de creatieve economie en is een belangrijke factor in de kwaliteit van een samenleving. Als Nederland haar cultuur op het gebied van creatief vakmanschap wil verbeteren, en dat is hard nodig, kan zij veel leren van landen als Japan, Italië en China. Dit concludeert een onderzoeksteam van prof.dr. Arjo Klamer van de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam in het onderzoek 'Creatief vakmanschap in internationaal perspectief'.
